1. What kind of fabric do you carry?

We specialize in batiks and bold cottons for contemporary quilters and other textile artisans. We carry quilting cotton from well known manufacturers such as Robert Kaufman, Timeless Treasures, Princess Mirah, Galaxy, Benartex, Batik Textiles, Red Rooster and Riverwoods-Troy. These fabrics are perfect for making quilts, as well as bags and totes, wearables and modern accessories. We also carry new and striking flannels by Riley & Blake.

2. How wide is the fabric?

Most of the fabric is 112 cm/115 cm (44"/45") wide unless otherwise noted.

3. How is fabric priced?

Fabric is priced by the metre. One metre = 39 inches.

4. Can I order less than a metre?

Yes, we sell in increments of 0.25 metre. Simply enter .5, .75, 1, 1.25 etc in the 'Quantity' field. The minimum quantity for a cut of fabric is 0.5 a metre. We also sell fat quarters by the bundle.

5. What is a fat quarter?

A metric fat quarter is produced by cutting a half metre from a bolt of fabric 112 cm to 115 cm wide and then cutting that fabric in half width-wise. It measures 50 cm x 54 cm or 20" by 22". (An imperial fat quarter, that is fat quarters sold in the United States are 18" x 22".) A traditional 1/4 metre cut would be 25 cm x 115 cm (10"x 44"). A fat quarter offers more versatility as it allows the designer to cut larger pieces of fabric than would be possible from a regular quarter yard.

8. Do you charge sales tax?

Yes. We must charge the HST for purchases made from provinces that have the Harmonized Sales Tax, This includes B.C. at 12%, Nova Scotia at 15%, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Ontario at 13%. For all other provinces we charge the GST at 5%. There is no tax for international buyers.

9. What types of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa or Mastercard.

10. Is your site secure?

Absolutely. It is important that both you and I are protected while shopping online. Our shopping cart uses the highest level of SSL security certificates available. If you don't feel comfortable ordering online, there are a few options.

11. How do I use the Design Board?

The Design Board allows you to put fabric swatches together and see how they will look prior to purchase!

Select the "Add to Design Board" option that appears below any fabric swatch and name. There is no limit to the number of fabrics you can add to your design board.

When you are ready to view your fabric swatches, click on the "Click here when ready to go to the design board" link that appears at the top or bottom of the page.

Click on a thumbnail in the Available Items area to place it in the Design Board area. (You may place the same image on the board more than once.) To move an image around on the Design Board, click on the image and hold the mouse button down while you move it to the desired location. To remove an item from the Design Board area, move the image so that the upper-left corner of the image is inside the Available Items bar. To clear the Design Board and start over, right-click on the Design Board and choose Refresh or Reload.

13. Are the colours on the website really the right colours?

We do our absolute best to achieve the highest level of colour accuracy and image sharpness of each photograph that appears on our website. There is not one photograph that is posted without verifying the image against the actual fabric swatches. We test the image in a variety of different browsers and monitors, as well as on a PC and MAC. But the reality is that we can't guarantee that the photograph you see on your screen is the same as what appears here. Every computer system and monitor displays colour differently.

But that is one reason why we catalogue our fabrics by colour, as well as value. We stand behind the quality of our images, but if you find that the fabric you receive is not what you wished for, please let us know and we will happily provide you with a refund.
