Update to Quilt donations for Slave Lake

A tweet retweeted — and I found Cheryl Arkinson, wonderful blogger/quilter of Naptime Quilter who has started “Quilts Recover” — a project in her words: “about providing (communities) just one bit of comfort during that rebuilding process. Quilts Recover is quilters providing finished quilts to communities ravaged by disaster.”

And her first target community is Slave Lake, Alberta — where earlier this month a wildfire destroyed half the homes and businesses in this community of 700,000.A burned out trailer sits in a destroyed neighborhood in Slave Lake, Alberta May 17, 2011. Parts of the town were devastated by wild fires.

Cheryl is collecting quilts that are clean, unused and functional until July 31, 2011. Contact her directly at quiltscover@gmail.com.

And if anyone has shipping contacts, please let Cheryl know!
